MMOsite: The combat system is always the top concern for the players. What kind of combat system will be available in Runes of Magic? What are the pros and cons of PvP vs. PvE?

Daniel: In Runes of Magic both, PvP and PvE players will find many challenges and features to explore. Fans of the latter will love the extensive quests that dig deeper and deeper into the background history. Combat-oriented players will go for the raid content or will try to prevail in one of different PvP modes. Runes of Magic will have combat arenas and a ranking system. Outside of the arenas, players will be able to activate a PvP flag anytime to fight against human opponents in standard duels within the open gameworld. So, it's up to each player whether to take part in PvP or not. At the same time, it won't harm or influence the game experience for others who are focused on PvE. However, there will be certain zones where everyone who enters will join PvP automatically. And belligerent guilds will have the possibility to declare war on other guilds. Runewaker is even developing server vs. server vs. server combat for three servers as a very special feature. When it's implemented, the whole community of one server will be able to challenge the players of the other servers in a gigantic confrontation.

MMOsite: Is there any sort of crafting or trade skill available for players to spend time outside of killing monsters?

Daniel: Generally, players can learn several skills in Runes of Magic but later on they need to specialize, because they can only master one of them to get an epic crafter. Good craftsmen for example will get the possibility to create epic weapons and equipment. Besides the usual weapons, armor suits and pieces of jewelry, they can craft potions and furniture too. And using the right rune stones they can design many magic items. Craftsmen level their skills completely separate from normal characters. When a craftsman has good suppliers for resources, he will never have to kill any monster in theory. But of course, they can do it if they want to. Craftsmen can sell items in their own store or use the auction house to receive the best price for very special items.

MMOsite: Can you introduce some other features of Runes of Magic for our readers, for example the ranking system, reputation system and character development system, etc.?

Daniel: Players will receive talent points by defeating enemies and with their regular level-ups. These can be used to upgrade most skills and spells in Runes of Magic. The Mage's fireball for example will only reach its true destructive power, when it has been enhanced with talent points. The multifaceted crafting will be trained by regular practice just like the combat skills, e.g. one-handed swords, wands or bows. But to develop their character with really unique abilities, players may use skills and spells from three basic categories. Amidst the general abilities and spells players will find callback spells, crafting skills, melee attacks and a PvP flag to enable or disable the player versus player mode. The second category in Runes of Magic, the so-called primary skills, may only be used by the primary class. Among these abilities special skills like the exceptional attack combinations of warriors, reanimation of priests or sneaking of rogues can be found. Players can use the secondary skills with both their primary and secondary class. If a player chooses to play a Rogue as his or her secondary class, he may for example apply "Training: Assassin's weapons" to throw daggers. At any time, players can change their primary and secondary class. But a player will only receive experience and talent points for his active primary class, which means that only this class will level up. To upgrade the secondary class, players will have to switch between the classes first.
